I arrived at the Wynn Hamlyn show completely naive as to what the name Wynn Hamlym entailed – and I have come out of it 100% associating the name Wynn with talent. According to FQ, some inspiration for the collection was taken from luxurious old fashioned rustic style carpets, transforming tapestry to something wearable – intrigued yet? The carpet theme was continued throughout the show through embellishments such as tassels and cords substituting for belts. Sunnies, tinted or framed with brown, red or turquoise added to the refreshing & retro feel of the show – I wish we got some of those in the goodie bags. Wynn’s collection proved that fashion potentially never gets old, or what gets ‘old’ will most likely make a bold return. That 19th century carpet that has been sitting in the lounge your whole life could be the next winter trend (thanks Wynn). Personally, that two piece denim set is what stole my heart – along with my beloved funky sunglasses. My favorite collection of the week so far, and as rumour has it, one of the best collections ever showcased at New Zealand Fashion Week.
