Fashion Week made an early kick off this morning – 8.00 am is a rather tedious start after Harman Grubisa’s evening show last night followed by intensive life organising and packing in preparation for the seven shows today held. This includes packing a handbag with your laptop, camera, alternate lens, camera charger, phone charger, drink (energy drink is regulatory), backstage pass, delegate pass – and then all the basics. OH and THEN sometimes you have to pack another bag with outfit changes – depends on the day and shows (always pack it, never change). Obviously 8.00 am wasn’t the show time, that would be 11.3o but all the backstage action starts at the get-go.
It is not an uncommonly known fact that fashion shows can slowly grow repetitive and begin walking on the fine line to evoking boredom – when you go to see seven shows a day, things can begin to blur. But, a wooden scaffolding was built centre stage providing a runway within a runway and a fresh edge to the typical layout. Dark eyes or dark lips were painted onto the models emphasising the edgy atmosphere of the show in company with an array of colours raging from plum to navy to beige to black – you get the bold coloured picture. Salasai definitely differentiated themselves from all other shows later to come, an impressive way to kick off the mid morning hours of Tuesday, snaps from backstage & the runway below,
